lynx on mac osx

lynx is a terminal application lynx, the venerable text browser can be installed on mac osx, easily.

everybody, who wants to implement accessible, web standard based websites should test with lynx!

apple offers a version of lynx for OSX

installation

the file “lynx.cfg” hat to be inside the folder “usr/local/lib/”! that folder is invisible, therefore:

  • select disc “system” and enter “command+shift+g”
  • put “usr/local/lib/” into the pop up dialog
  • copy “lynx.cfg” into this folder (you will need your admin password!)
  • the other lnyx files should be put into their own folder inside the application folder

configuration

“lynx.cfg” is the configuration-file for lynx - many comments help you to individualize the program (although that is not mandatory…)

starting lynx

douple click “lynx.command” - lynx shows up in the terminal window

important shortcut

enter “g” and then your desired url…
